    Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka
    On 16 December 2016, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka paid a courtesy call on Mr. Pujith Jayasundara, Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka at the Police Headquarters in Colombo. H.E. Mr. Nopporn expressed his appreciation to the Police Chief for providing security arrangement and facilitating the activities of the Embassy. For a remembrance of this meeting, Mr. Pujith gave a plaque on 150th anniversary of the Establishment of Sri Lankan Police to H.E. Mr. Nopporn. In return, H.E. Mr. Nopporn gave a commemorative book on the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka to Mr. Pujith.

    A Buddhist ceremony dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of 50th day of the His Majesty’s demise
    On 4 December 2014, H.E. Mr. Thanatip Upatising, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of the Philippines presided over the Buddhist ceremony dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of 50th day of the His Majesty’s demise. The said ceremony was attended by Embassy’s officials, Team Thailand, and Thai people residing in the Philippines. After completing the ceremony, the monk gave a sermon on “Sufficiency” which was imparted in His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s speech on 4 December 1998 at Dusitdalai Hall, Dusit Palace. All participants made a 9-minute meditation dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

    On 12 December 2016 at 16.30 hrs., H.E. Mr. Thongchai Chasawath, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, presented the Embassy’s annual financial contribution to Thai Students Society in Singapore, to support the Society’s activities that promote Thai language and culture and foster constructive collaboration in academic and social services activities among Thai students in Singapore. Representing the Society in receiving the contribution was Mr. Yotsapat Lumlertluksanachai, President of the Thai Students Society.

    On 8 December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City held a ceremony to present Thailand’s contribution to the humanitarian response and relief efforts for Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. Mrs. Nadariya Nopakun Phromyothi, Chargé d’Affaires, presented a symbolic check to H.E. Mr. Guy Lamothe, Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico. Thailand made the donation through the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) on 25 November 2016.

    Financial aid for Youth Eye Service (YES)
    On 8th December 2016, Mr. Ek-att Thitaram, Charge d’Affaires, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu, and Phra Sribodhivedes, Chief Abbot of the Royal Thai Monastery, Lumbini, presented financial aid of 291, 603.5 NPRs (approximately 94,000 Baht) to Mr. Siddhartha Ranjit, Chairman of Youth Eye Service (YES) at the Ambassador’s residence. This financial aid is a joint collaboration between the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and the Royal Thai Monastery, Lumbini, which supports free cataract surgery and eye examination organized by the YES to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable with eye problems.

    H.E. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, Former Prime Minister of Japan met with the Ambassador
    On 7December 2016, H.E. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, Former Prime Minister of Japan met with H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag to report the outcome of his visit to Thailand for the Horasis Asia Meeting, that was held between 27-28 November 2016. The Horasis Asia Meeting is a world economic forum, which was held in the Asia region for the first time and Thailand was selected to host this meeting. H.E. Mr. Hatoyama, expressed that he really appreciated and was interested in the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy that was conceived and developed by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and that he wanted the book of Sufficiency Economy to be translated to Japanese. This philosophy would be useful for the economy and improve the lives of people around the world. In addition, H.E. Mr. Hatoyama expressed his appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai Government for making it convenient for him to sign the book of condolence to the late King at the Grand Palace on 28 November 2016. The Ambassador stated that the visit of Former Prime Minister Hatoyama to Thailand and signing the book of condolence was touching and it showed the close relations between Thailand-Japan at every level. After the meeting with the Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Hatoyama went to sign the book of condolence in the hall of the Royal Thai Embassy as well.

    On 1 December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy held a Buddhist ceremony on the 50th day of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The ceremony commenced with the singing of the Royal Anthem, followed by offerings to and blessings by the four Thai Buddhist monks for His Majesty the late King.

    On 3 December 2016, which is observed around the world as the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Friendly Design for All Foundation and the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), organized a seminar titled “ASEAN…An Inclusive and Accessible Community” at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani. The event, aims at promoting knowledge and raising awareness about ASEAN’s work regarding persons with disabilities and ageing population, was part of Thailand Friendly Design Expo 2016.

    Buddhist merit-making ceremony on 50th day of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej
    On 4th December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu organized a Buddhist merit-making ceremony, devoted to 50th day of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Ambassador’s residence. Mr. Ek-att Thitaram, Charge d’Affaires, presided over the ceremony which was conducted by Phra Sribodhivedes, Royal Thai Monastery, Lumbini, as well as 9 Thai and Nepali monks. Both Thai residents and other nationals attended the ceremony and took part in Buddhist chanting, meditation and the singing of Thai royal anthem in honour of the late King.

    On Saturday 3rd December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates co-hosted the Buddhist merit making ceremony to pay tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of 50-day cycle mourning which was presided over by H.E. Mr Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE and Mr Unnop Buranasate, Consul General of Thailand to Dubai. The Buddhist ceremony was conducted by Phra Maha Wudhi, Abbot of Meditation Center of Dubai and was attended by Mr. Panot Punyahotra, Consul (Commercial) of Thai Trade Center Dubai Office; Mr Chalermsak Suranant, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand Dubai & Middle East Office; as well as diplomats and staff from Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai and family, and over 120 Thais living in the United Arab Emirates. The Buddhist ceremony was followed by a 9-minute of meditation to pay royal blessing to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

    On 1 December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasília organized a memorial mass for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasília, as a merit making to mark the 50th day of mourning for King Bhumibol. More than 150 representatives from diplomatic corps in Brasília, Team Thailand in Brazil, and the Thai comminuty attended the mass.
