Press Release : Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand to visit the Republic Of India and co-chair the 8th Meeting of India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting (JC) for Bilateral Cooperation

On 9 – 10 October 2019 H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Thailand will pay an official visit to the Republic of India where he will co-chair the 8th Meeting of India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting (JC) for Bilateral Cooperation, with H.E. Dr. Subrahmanvam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India.
 
The JC meeting will be preceded by the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) co-chaired by H.E. Mrs. Busaya Matthelin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Thailand and H.E. Mrs. Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India. Both sides will discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation including political relations, security and defense cooperation, economic and commercial cooperation, tourism, culture, education and people-to-people cooperation as well as science & technology and space cooperation.
 
During the JC meeting, the co-chairs will acknowledge reports of the SOM leaders and to explore ways to further enhance their collaboration in various dimensions as well as exchange views on regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. 
 
On this occasion, the two Ministers will witness the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Between Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Foreign Service Institute, Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India. The MOU will pave the ways to foster cooperation between the two countries in training programmes for young diplomats.
