    On 16 May 2018, H.E. Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed a group of Thai Journalists and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand who are participating in the Journalists Exchange Programme (JEP) organised by Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information during 14-17 May 2018. H.E. Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi gave interview to the Thai journalists on various issues such as investment opportunity for Thai investors in Singapore, Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship as well as Singapore as a meeting venue for President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un. The Journalists Exchange Programme (JEP) is a programme under the Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) which was started in 1997. Singapore journalists will be travelling to Thailand under the JEP framework in June 2018.

    On 18 May 2018, at 11.18 hrs, H.E. Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Ambassador designate of Thailand to Singapore, together with Mrs. Nitinantana Vongphakdi, Ambassador’s spouse and Heads of Team Thailand in Singapore, attended the official opening ceremony of the first branch of Took Lae Dee restaurant in Singapore at Mapletree Building, Level 1. In this occasion, Ambassador Manopchai cut the ribbon with Mr. Frank Lim, Chairman of Foodland Supermarket Co., Ltd. Took Lae Dee restaurant is famous in Thailand for many decades for its Thai express meals such as Pad Krapow (chicken or pork with chili and basil leaves), Fried Pork with Garlic and Pepper, Pad Thai, Tom Yum. Reasonable and quality is distinctive name of “Took Lae Dee.”

    On 2 May 2018, Mrs. Nantana Sivakua, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, together with Dr. Simon A. Wallace, Thai Honorary Consul-General in Melbourne, attended “Amazing Thailand Roadshow 2018” at Cargo Hall, Showtime South Wharf, Melbourne. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organizes the said event annually to promote Thai Tourism in Australia. This year, TAT invited 50 representatives of Thai tourism industry to meet with their counterparts in Australia. The Ambassador gave a remark during the opening ceremony.

    On 13 May 2018, H.E. Mrs. Rattikul Chansuriya, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai Festival "Hola Tailandia 2018" at Arc de Triomf in Barcelona. This event was co-organized by the Embassy and the Asociacion Amigos de Tailandia Samakkhi, with an aim to promote Thai cultural in Spain through various activities such as Thai cultural performances, Thai food and Muay Thai. On this occasion, the Thai Ambassador gave fund for an amount of 50,000 bahts to Mrs. Sareeya Chaeamchoi, the President of the Asociacion to support the works of the Association in helping Thai people and Consular Affairs in the Year 2018.

    On 28 April 2018, Mrs. Nantana Sivakua, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, together with Mrs. Amanda Giannopoulos, Honorary Consul of Thailand to South Australia with jurisdiction over Northern Territory (NT), and Miss Mintira Pupatharapong, Counsellor, attended the Songkran Festival 2018 or Thailand Grand Festival at Darwin Waterfront. The Ambassador and Ms. Vicki O’Halloran, Administrator of NT, gave remarks during the opening ceremony. Thailand Grand Festival was organized by NT Thai Association. It was aimed to promote closer links between people of Thailand and Australia through a better knowledge and appreciation of each respective culture.

    2018年5月11日至13日泰國貿易經濟辦事處、台北市政府文化局、泰國觀光局台北辦事處假台北市商業中心信義香堤大道廣場(新光三越信義新天地A8與微風松高前廣場)舉辦 "2018泰國文化節"。該活動由卜蜂集團、南僑集團、泰國航空、盤谷銀行台北分行、德記洋行提供贊助,並獲得泰國駐台政府單位全力支持。本次活動依據泰國政府政策方針 "泰國4.0"邀請了30家來自泰國的廠商,分別是珠寶飾品、時尚服飾、房地產、精油周邊商品、食品和飲料、泰國商品和食物、旅遊、航空業者以及進口泰國商品的台灣廠商共60家,提供民眾參觀並選購。此外,亦有各式各樣泰國文化的呈現,例如祈福花圈製作示範、甜點製作示範、泰式服裝試穿、陶磁彩繪示範、水燈製作示範,讓在場的民眾興趣盎然。

    On 12nd May 2018, ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK) organised the 1st Badminton Tournament at Reggae Badminton Court, Jawhart Al Salh School, Farwaniya. Representatives from ASEAN Embassies in Kuwait; diplomats, local staff and families joined the tournament. The winners of the day were representatives from the embassies of Thailand, Lao PDR, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia. After the games, players and supporters joyfully had lunch together. Not only that this activity helps to strengthen the relationship among ASEAN member countries, it also helps to enhance identity of ASEAN community in the host country.

    On 12nd May 2018, H.E. Dusit Manapan, Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait was invited to attend Wawan Sport Night : Muay Thai Championship, organised by Kuwait Muay Thai Committee. The purpose of this event is to promote Muay Thai in Kuwait. Two professional Muay Thai boxers from Thailand also fought in the event. Muay Thai has become increasingly popular in Kuwait, which can be seen from the growing number of Muay Thai practice gyms in Kuwait. Each year, a high and the number of Kuwaitis travel to Thailand to learn Muay Thai.

    On 7 and 8 May 2018 respectively, Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Governor for Policy and Planning of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Ms. Niswan Watthanachan, General Manager and Mr. Pat Sanjan, Managing Director of In-Touch Research & Consultancy met with H.E. Dusit Manapan, Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait, during their visit to Kuwait to conduct a research project of the newly emerging tourism market in the Middle East countries. The objectives of this project are to study the demand and supply that have an effect on Kuwaitis’ travelling as well as the number of tourists and potential destinations for the targeted tourists. The Deputy Governor discussed with the Ambassador on the types of Kuwaiti tourists, activities that interest Kuwaiti tourists, factors that affect tourists from Kuwait and last but not least, how to promote Thai tourism in Kuwait.

Ms. Lusnee Boonmalers has completed her course majoring in Islamic studies and Arabic language from Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) this year. The Ambassador congratulated her on her achievement.
