Embassy & Consulate News : Thai Consul-General to Osaka delivers congratulatory remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Seminar of the Thai Club of Japan

On 26 October 2019, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat presided over the 9th Seminar titled “Shape of Thailand” of the Thai Club of Japan at the Saji Keizo Memorial Hall, Osaka University Nakanoshima Center. The seminar was moderated by Professor Dr. Osamu Akagi, President of the Thai Club of Japan, along with 3 commentators, namely Professor Emeritus Dr. Tatsuhiko Kawashima of Gakushuin University, Professor Naoji Shibata of Kindai University and Professor Takashi Notsu of University of Hyogo. A total of 120 people who are friends of Thailand attended the event.

On this occasion, Consul-General Krit congratulated Japan for the recent Enthronement Ceremony of His Majesty The Emperor of Japan on 22 October 2019. He also thanked the Thai Club of Japan for organizing this forum to exchange information and views on Thailand. This year’s topic “Shapes of Thailand” is interesting because it helps stimulate different views about Thailand, from the origin of the Thai people to Thai culture and foreign influence.

Thai Club of Japan organizes the seminar about Thailand annually and invites the Japanese general public to attend. Each year the topic of discussion varies - from Thai food and Chiang Mai to monkhood. This year’s topic “Shapes of Thailand” derives from the title of Professor Dr. Osamu Akagi’s newly published book “Thai no Katachi  (Shapes of Thailand)”, which talks about the origin and development of Thai ethnicity.
