    Ambassador chaired the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait meeting
    On 18 July 2018, H.E. Dusit Manapan, Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait, as current Chair of the ASEAN Committee (ACK) in Kuwait chaired a joint meeting of ACK Ambassadors and the Working Group at the residence of the Ambassador. The meeting discussed the forthcoming ACK activities planned for the second half of this year, namely; the 6th ACK Bowling Tournament, ASEAN Day celebration, ASEAN seminar and ASEAN family day as well as meetings with the local key personalities. Thailand’s ACK Chair will end in December 2019.

Ambassador of Thailand, H.E Ms. Penprapa Vongkovit hosted the reception for Mr. Uzi Hanuni, CEO of the Maxtech Networks Company and his team at the Ambassador’s Residence to express appreciation to the Mr. Hanuni and the Company for providing emergency radio and expert from Israel to assist the rescue mission of 13 members of Moo Pa (Wild Boar) Academy youth football club out of Tam Laung Cave, Mae Sai, Chieng Rai province since 25 June 2018.

    During 16-22 July 2018, H.E. ACM Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Thailand and his team visited Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. H.E. ACM Prajin Juntong along with senior officials met the Honorable Greg Hunt MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care and the Honorable Peter Dutton MP, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, to discuss ways to enhance their cooperation on anti-narcotic policy and preventive measures. The Thai side also took the opportunity to thank the Australian Government for its kind assistance in the rescue efforts of the Thai Youth soccer team who were trapped inside Tham Luang cave in Chiang-Rai.

    Deepest gratitude and heartfelt condolences from Thailand to Dr. Richard Harris and Australia
    On 12 July 2018, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand sent a letter to Dr. Richard Harris, the renowned anaesthetist and expert diver who played an important role in assisting the boys and their coach out of the cave safely in Chiangrai Province, Thailand. According to the letter, General Prayut extended to Dr. Harris, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, the most heartfelt condolences upon the passing of his father. The Prime Minister also expressed deepest gratitude to him for his selfless contribution to the rescue mission. Dr. Harris’ role in planning a safe rescue, was pivotal the success of this complex mission, and his efforts have touched the hearts of people around the world, and will always be remembered by the Royal Thai Government and people of Thailand, said the Prime Minister.

    Ambassador of Thailand to Poland host a meeting to hand over ACW’s Chairmanship to Ambassador of Vietnam to Poland
    On 3 July 2018, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of Thailand, as the Chair of ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW), hosted an ACW Afternoon Tea Meeting at the Residence of the Ambassador of Thailand to hand over ACW’s chairmanship to H.E. Mr. Vu Dang Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam to Poland. Attended were also H.E. Mrs. Patricia Ann Villar Paez, Ambassador of the Philippines, H.E. Mrs. Chitra Devi Ramiah, Ambassador of Malaysia, Mr. Hubertus Djatmiko Witjaksono, Minister Counselor/Representative of Ambassador of Indonesia, and the officials in ACW Working Group. Having treated as a chairmanship’s handover meeting, the discussion focused on the reviews of activities and work done during Thailand’s chairmanship such as ASEAN participation in SHOM Charity Bazaar 2017 on 3 December 2017, joint courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland by 10 ASEAN Ambassadors/Heads of Mission to Poland on 14 March 2018 and ASEAN seminar session at the 10th European Economic Congress (EEC) on 15 May 2018. Besides, they exchanged views on a work plan and activities during the chairmanship of Vietnam in order to promote and maintain the visibility of ASEAN in Poland. ACW’s chairmanship shall rotate every 6 months, based on the alphabetical order of the member country’s name.

    On 4 July 2018, H.E. Mr. Songsak Saicheua, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria, presided over the ceremony to present the Royal Decoration of Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand which His Majesty the King has graciously bestowed upon Mr. Maximilian Coreth in recognition of his service to the Kingdom of Thailand since his appointment as the Honorary Consul of Thailand in Salzburg in 2003. Mr. Coreth continues to exert great effort to the promotion of friendship and cordial relations between Thailand and Austria, particularly in Salzburg region.

    The 21st Thai Festival organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern
    The Royal Thai Embassy in Bern organized the 21st Thai Festival during 7-8 July 2018 at the Embassy compound and its adjacent areas. This event is organised annually to showcase and promote Thai cuisine, Thai Products, Tourism and Thai Spa and traditional massage. Present at the event were more than 90 booths offering authentic Thai food and products, fruit and vegetable carving demonstration as well as the lucky draw for Zurich - Bangkok air tickets from Thai Airways international. The special highlight of this year was the showcase of food innovation from National Innovation Agency and Thai entrepreneurs in accordance with the Government’s Thailand 4.0 policy.
