    Thailand and Mie Prefecture to Forge Local-to-Local Ties
    On 30 October 2017, Mr. Munin Paniswasdi, Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka, visited Mie Prefecture to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Eikei Suzuki, Governor of Mie, on the occasion of his assumption of duty. During the discussion, both sides agreed to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Japan through cooperation between Thailand and Mie Prefecture. Consul-General Paniswasdi expressed his readiness to push forward the existing Thailand - Mie cooperation toward concrete action and initiate new areas of potential cooperation based on both sides' mutual interest, e.g. youth exchange programme, cooperation in the field of sustainable environmental management, etc.

    On 29 October 2017, Consul-General Munin Paniswasdi attended and delivered the opening remarks at the Annual Forum of the Thai Club of Japan on “Why Thailand Charms Us “Tham-Bun -- People’s Wish”” at Saji Keizo Memorial Hall, Osaka University Nakanoshima Center. The Forum was moderated by Professor Dr. Osamu Akagi, President of the Thai Club of Japan. About 130 participants attended the event.

    On 18 October 2017, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of Thailand to Poland paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Ryszard Terlecki, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on the occasion of assumption of duty. They discussed and exchanged views on the potentials of bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Poland in various fields, especially in trade and investment. There are still a plenty of opportunity to strengthen our cooperation on the basis of close ties, friendship and good understanding between the two countries, whether in the parliamentary, governmental and people-to-people levels.

    On 28 October 2017 Consul-General Munin Paniswasdi attended and delivered his opening remarks at the annual academic conference “Wisdom Exchange “WE Day”” of the Thai Students’ Association in Japan under the Royal Patronage (TSAJ) at Osaka University School of Medicine Alumni Hall, Osaka University, Suita Campus. Professor Shojiro Nishio, President of Osaka University also attended the event. About 200 Thai students in Japan participated in the event. Main objectives of “WE Day” are to be a forum for Thai students in Japan to exchange their knowledge, ideas and experience as well as to strengthen the network of Thai students in Japan.

    On 11 October 2017, H. E. Mr. Tej Bunnag, Assistant Secretary General for Administration of the Thai Red Cross Society, presided over the Kathin Ceremony, which had been graciously granted by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, to the congregation of Buddhist monks at Kyaung Htai Phone Gyi Thin Dan Kyaung, Mandalay, Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The Myanmar side was led by Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region. Other high-ranking officials included H. E. Dr. Ye Lwin, Mayor of Mandalay City, H. E. U Myat Thu, Minister for Finance and Planning, H. E. U Aung Win, Attorney General, H. E. Dr. Soe Than, Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, H. E. U Myo Thit, Minister for Natural Resources Conservation, H. E. U Sai Kyaw Zaw, Minister for Shan Ethnic Affairs, H. E. Dr. Khin Maung Htwe, Vice Speaker of Mandalay Hluttaw (House of Representatives) and U Kyaw Min, First Vice President, Mandalay Region Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Also present at the ceremony were H. E. Mr. Jakr Boon-Long, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and spouse, along with members of the Team Thailand in Myanmar as well as over 250 Thai and Myanmar residents in Mandalay.

    Consul-General Munin Paniswasdi Attended the Thailand-Japan Culture Fair in Kyoto
    On 8 October 2017, Consul-General Munin Paniswasdi attended and delivered his opening remarks at the 2nd Thailand-Japan Culture Fair in Kyoto organized by Japan-Thailand Educational Exchange Society (JTEES) at Kyoto International Community House. Main objectives of the Thailand-Japan Culture Fair in Kyoto are to strengthen Thailand-Japan relations through cultural exchange activities and to join in celebrating the 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations. Mr. Shuichi Yamauchi, Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, also attended the event. This year, Thailand-Japan Culture Fair in Kyoto received around 20,000 attendees.
