    Brisbane Thai Festival 2017
    On 3 September 2017, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, and Mrs. Kanyaratana Punkrasin, spouse, attended the Brisbane Thai Festival 2017 at the Roma Street Parkland, Brisbane. Ambassador kindly gave remarks at the opening ceremony. The Brisbane Thai Festival is jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy, Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Brisbane, and Thai-Australian Association of Queensland, which aims to promote Thai tourism and Thai foods as well as to bring Thailand and Australia closer together through appreciation of each other culture. This year’s Festival marks the 5th time we bring Thailand to the heart of Brisbane.

    On 26 – 27 August 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy, together with the Team Thailand Offices in Moscow, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and the Government of Moscow City organized the 4th Thai Festival in Moscow at the Festival Square, Sokolniki Park, as part of the series of activities to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand, as well as to promote “Thainess” through different dimensions, including arts, tourism, as well as authentic Thai products and food.

    Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with Hotel Association Nepal and Nepal-Thailand Friendship Co-operation Society organized a Thai cooking demonstration
    On 22 August 2017, Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with Hotel Association Nepal and Nepal-Thailand Friendship Co-operation Society organized a Thai cooking demonstration, Exploring Thailand, a Culinary Experience with Master Chefs, at Kumari Hall, Hotel Annapurna. In accordance with the Royal Thai Government’s policy, “Thai Kitchen to the World,” the event aimed to promote the standard in preparing authentic Thai dishes in hotels and restaurants in Nepal. The Embassy invited a group of Thai chefs from Suan Dusit International Culinary School to demonstrate how to cook 4 popular Thai dishes – Golden Cups, Tom Yam Koong, Som Tam and Sen Jan Pad Koong. The event was very well received by 100 participants, the majority of which were chefs from all leading hotels and restaurants in Nepal, local media, and general public. The organization of this event was a solid indication of the increasing popularity of Thai cuisine in Nepal. Therefore, promoting better understanding of Thai cuisine and the original cooking method was another success in propagating stronger presence of Thai cuisine in this country.

    Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with Hotel Yak & Yeti organized Thai Food Gala
    On 18 August 2017, Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with Hotel Yak & Yeti organized Thai Food Gala to widely promote Thai cuisine in Nepal in accordance with the Royal Thai Government’s policy, “Thai Kitchen to the World,” while encouraging a standard preparation of Thai cuisine through imported Thai ingredients. The Embassy invited a group of Thai chefs from Suan Dusit International Culinary School to prepare authentic Thai dinner and perform cooking demonstration of 2 popular Thai dishes: Pad Thai and Som Tam. To showcase Thai culture, the Embassy also invited a group of Thai performers from Bunditpatanasilpa Institute to perform at the event. The Opening Ceremony of Thai Food Gala received great attention from the public and was well attended by more than 300 participants from diplomatic community, and the public and private sector of Nepal. During 19 – 25 August 2017, a Thai buffet corner and Thai cultural performance were also organized at the Sunrise restaurant, Hotel Yak & Yeti to successively promote Thai cuisine and culture.

Mr. Surasak Suparat, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, Chairman of ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB), held a reception to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN Day at the Thai Residence, with attendance of H.E. Mr. Marcos Bezerra Abott Galvão, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil,as the guest of honour, as well as the diplomatic corps of ASEAN Member Countries and ASEAN dialogue partners, and representatives of Brazilian Government agencies.

    Thai students on the internship programme at Massey University met with H.E. Ambassador of Thailand to New Zealand
    On 20th July 2017, five students from Faculty of Engineering, MahasarakramUniversity, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University and Faculty of Agro-industry, Kasetsart University come to do internship on Food Science and Technology at Massey University, Palmerston North met H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa Thai Ambassador at Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington. These students undergo two months of internship programme with Massey University, therefore the Ambassador would like to learn about the internship programme. In this programme, Massey University assigns different projects for each student to study. Furthermore, the students had been on a field trip and learned from New Zealand Fonterra dairy company. Ambassador also encouraged the students to apply the knowledge they gain to improve Thai food businesses and industries in the future.

    “Thailand-Denmark Collaboration on Water Resource Management”
    During 21-24 August 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen in collaboration with Hydro and Aqua Informatics Institute (HAII), Ministry of Science and Technology of the Kingdom of Thailand, organized a seminar entitled “Thailand-Denmark Collaboration on Water Resource Management.” Speakers with expertise in water resource management were invited from DHI Group (DHI – Institute for water and environment) from Denmark. The seminar consisted of lectures, group discussions and study visits, which provided opportunities for Thai experts to learn new techniques and exchange experiences with Danish experts in water resource management, particularly in seeking solutions to prevent flooding and manage waste water. Moreover, the said seminar could lead to future cooperation in other areas of water management between Thailand and Denmark.

    The First Thai Festival in Brazil
    On 20 August 2017 the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia, in association with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Trade Center and the Cultural Advisory of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo, organized “Festival da Tailândia”, the very first Thai Festival in Brazil. The event introduced all aspects of Thailand, including Thai traditional dance and boxing, Thai food, Thai products, Thai massage and Thai tourism. Moreover, the Emirates Airlines provided a free economy-class round trip ticket to Thailand for a lucky draw at the event.

    On 23 August 2017, H.E. Mr. Surasak Suparat, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Blairo Maggi, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil. During the call, the two sides discussed on promotion of agricultural cooperation between the two countries, the conclusion of Memorandum Understanding (MoU) on Agricultural Cooperation between Thailand and Brazil, the issue of tariffs reduction of agricultural produces in order to increase more trade, the idea of bringing some Thai fruits for exhibition and tasting in Brazil.
