    Youths from United Arab Emirates participate in cultural exchange and innovative design project in Thailand
    In connection with the Tourism Authority of Thailand's tourism campaign "LINK (Local experience, Innovation, Networking and Keeping character", youths from United Arab Emirates participated in Thailand Academy 2017, a cultural and academic exchange program during 1-7 May 2017 in Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Samut Songkram,Thailand. Design and media university students and lecturers from United Arab Emirates presented their packaging design of Thai coconut sugar to members of Baan Rim Klong community in Samut Songkhram province where is well known for local lifestyle attached to nature, travelling through canals and live in the changing world with simplicity and sustainability. Local products from this area include handcrafted coconut sugar and Benjarong (Thai porcelain). In exchange, the participants also learned how coconut sugar is made and helped prepare traditional Thai desserts with the locals.

    Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, together with other Heads of Mission visited Cairns, Queensland during 14-16 May 2017 hosted by the Honourable Julie Bishop, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia. The said visit was one of the annual visits organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia to provide the opportunity for the Heads of Mission to learn about the potentials, in particular the economic one, in different regions of Australia.

    The Royal Thai Embassy in Rabat participated in the Asia Festival
    The Royal Thai Embassy in Rabat participated in the Asia Festival (Les Journées de la Culture Asiatique) at Médiathèque Center in Rabat on 26 – 29 April 2017. The Festival was hosted by Al Khayzourane Association whose goal is to foster cultural and sportive exchange, especially in Moroccan youths. Apart from the Royal Thai Embassy, the Festival also featured presence of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and the Embassy of Malaysia.

    Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal presided over the inauguration and unveiling ceremony of a new Buddha statue in Mache Ga village
    On 20 May 2017, H.E. Bhakavat Tanskul, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal presided over the opening the inauguration and unveiling ceremony of a new Buddha statue in Mache Ga village, organized by Nun Punyawati Guruma, the Abbess of Shakyamuni Kirti Vihar. More than 100 people including monks, nuns, Nepali politicians as well as Mache Ga villagers, attended the ceremony which aimed to promote Buddhism in the village and express gratitude towards donors of the new Buddha statue. Ambassador Tanskul gave a brief remark congratulating the Mache Ga villagers on this special occasion and handed over certificates as well as tokens of appreciation from the organizers to the donors. The presence of Ambassador Tanskul in this ceremony led to the deepening of people-to-people diplomacy and strengthened collaboration in Buddhism between Thailand and Nepal.

    On 23 May 2017, Deputy Consul-General Chanida Kamalanavin welcomed 8 students from Otsuka Junior High School, Hiroshima Prefecture, who visited the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka on their study tour. The students received a comprehensive briefing about Thailand in various aspects as well as the work of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka. The students were impressed by the presentation and brought back with them very fond memory about Thailand.

    On 22 May 2017 at 11.00 hr., Deputy Consul-General Chanida Kamalanavin delivered an opening remarks at the opening ceremony of Hotel Nikko Osaka’s Thai Food Fair held at Serena Restaurant of Hotel Nikko Osaka. About 50 Japanese and foreign guests who attended the opening ceremony were impressed by Thai traditional dance by Tassanee Thai Culture Center Hyogo.

    Thailand won the 4th prize at the 59th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly
    The 59th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly was organized by the Government of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur from 15 – 20 May 2017. Two Thai reciters, namely Mr. Wattana Arbeedin and Miss Kanlayanee Mumi competed in the said event. The participating reciters from 46 countries were categorized into 4 groups, namely Qari, Qariah, Hafiz and Hafiah. Ms. Kanlayanee Mumi from Thailand won the 4th prize of the Qariah competition, and was awarded 15,000 Malaysian Ringgit from His Majesty Sultan Muhammad V, King of Malaysia.

    On 16 May 2017, the Ambassador of Thailand to the State of Kuwait attended the Graduation Ceremony for the graduates class of 2017 at the Faculty of Law’s Auditorium, Kuwait University. This year three Thai muslim students have received the degrees in Arts and Islamic Law from the Kuwait University.
