    Thai American Friendship Project (TAFP) 2018 volunteers’ mission has started
    On June 19 2018, the Royal Thai Consulate-General organized an orientation for volunteers of Thai American Friendship Project (TAFP). The project is made possible through cooperation among the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Tourism Authority of Thailand Los Angeles Office, and Rangsit University. This year marks its second year to send second generation of Thai-American volunteers as an English teacher to 5 provinces of Thailand for a period of 2 months.

    ASEAN Food and Cultural Festival 2018 in Brasilia
    On 23 June 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia, in collaboration with Embassies of ASEAN Member States in Brasilia (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore and Viet Nam), organized ASEAN Food and Cultural Festival 2018 at the Embassy of Indonesia. The event consisted of cultural shows, ASEAN Fashion show, ASEAN quiz and booths in which each Member State promoted its food, tourism and products. For Thailand, Thai food such as Pad Thai, food ingredients as well as clothes were on sale. Mauy Thai from the Confederação Brasileira de Muaythai Tradicional was demonstrated during cultural show.

    Thai National Team Athletes Joined the 2018 Yonex Canada Open in Calgary, Alberta between 19-24 June
    The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver, together with Thai Trade Centre in Vancouver, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Edmonton (Honorary), Alberta Thai-Canadian Association in Calgary, and Alberta Thai Association in Edmonton, invited members of the Thai communities and friends of Thailand to welcome and support the Thai national team athletes from the Badminton Association of Thailand and the SCG Badminton Academy during their participation to Yonex Canada Open in Calgary, Alberta between 19-24 June 2018. On this occasion, Mr. Nontawat Chandrtri, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver hosted dinner to congratulate the Thai Badminton team for their successful participation to the 2018 Yonex Canada Open and Mr. Suttichat Nilkuha, Director of Thai Trade Centre, hosted lunch for the team during their visit to Vancouver on 23 June 2018.

    The 5th Destination Thailand festival at Pai Northern Thai Kitchen in Toronto.
    On 21 June 2018 – 16.00 hrs. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Toronto, and Thai Trade Centre, Toronto, organized a Launch Reception to celebrate the 5th Destination Thailand festival at Pai Northern Thai Kitchen in Toronto. Ambassador Maris teamed up with a Celebrity Chef, Nuit Nongluck, the owner of Pai, to demonstrate how to make Gung Pad Kaprao or stir-fired shrimp basil, one of the most a popular Thai dishes, in front of nearly 50 guests who were very interested in the cooking demonstration. During the reception, Ambassador warmly welcomed the guests while promoting Thainess through Thai food. He also pointed out that Thailand is not only a holiday destination but also a country where many opportunities can be developed between Canada and Thailand in the levels of government, business and people connections.

    The Muay Boran Demonstration in honour of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Astana City
    In honour of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Astana City, the Federation of Muaythai in Kazakhstan organized the Mayor of Astana’s cup Muaythai competition at the Congress Hall, Astana on 15 June 2018. In this connection, the Royal Thai Embassy brought Muaythai fighters from “Lanna Fighting Muaythai” of Chieng Mai Province of Thailand to demonstrate the Arts of Muay Boran (ancient Muaythai). Media from Kazakhstan TV, KazSport, and Astana TV recorded and broadcasted the event.

    Ambassador paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the House of Representatives
    On June 20, 2018, Mrs. Nantana Sivakua, Ambassador of Thailand, together with Mrs. Pornpan Jankrajang, political counselor, paid a courtesy call on The Hon Tony Smith MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia. Ambassador Nantana thanked the Speaker for his support of the Resolution of the House of Representatives expressing its deep regret at the pass of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2016. Moreover, the two exchanged their views on the good relations between Thailand and Australia. The Hon Tony Smith was delightful to learn that Thai investment in Australia has steadily increased to a significant amount , thus beneficial to the economies of both countries. The two also agreed that the people to people relations have been very close, with around 800,000 Australian tourists visit Thailand last year, while there are currently over 20,000 Thai students pursuing their education in Australia.

    On 15 June 2018, Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Deputy Consul-General, represented the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka at the closing ceremony of the 19th Duskin Leadership Training Program in Japan organized by Duskin Ainowa Foundation in coordination with The Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (JSRPD) at the headquarters of the Duskin Company Limited in Osaka. Mr. Teruji Yamamura, Chairman of the Duskin Ainowa Foundation, and Mr. Tsutomu Tagawa, Deputy Director of the Health and Welfare Division, Health and Welfare Department, Kinki Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare, were also present.

    On 8th June B.E. 2561 (2018) at 10.00 am. Mr. Miguel Angel Elias Avalos, Congressman (of Popular Force party, representative from the region of Ica) and President of the Peru-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship League of the Congress of the Republic of Peru paid a visit to Mr. Angkura Kulvanij, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. of Royal Thai Embassy in Lima, at the Embassy where both discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations under the framework of the Thailand-Peru Parliamentarians Friendship Group. Mr. Miguel sees that Thailand and Peru, both have history of ancient cultures and thus wishes to promote cultural exchanges with an aim to enhance the bilateral relations. On the other hand the Chargé d’ Affaires was of an opinion that aside of promotion of cultural exchanges, exchanges of visits at various levels would be able to further strengthen the relationship. As it would be an opportunity for each country to share knowledge, experience, aptitude, interest, which can lead to concrete collaboration in various fields. The Chargé d’ Affaires also used the opportunity to provide information about the promulgation of the new constitution of Thailand in April 2017, Thailand political reform that’s been happening according to the roadmap announced by the Prime Minister and the general election which is expected in 2019, including the preparation of the 20- years National Strategic Plan for achieving sustainable development.
