    On 12 August 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu organized a congratulatory signing ceremony at the Embassy as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit on the occasion of 85th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty. At 09.15 hrs., H.E. Mr. Bhakavat Tanskul, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal led the officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand and spouse, Thai people in Kathmandu as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, participating in the 15th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting, in total 17 people to sign their well wishes for Her Majesty. At 09.30 hrs., Ambassador Tanskul delivered congratulatory speech and led all Thai participants in singing the royal anthem of Thailand (Sansoen Phra Barami). The ceremony ended at 10.00 hrs.

    ASEAN Family Day 2017 in Stockholm
    On Sunday 20 August 2017 H.E. Mr. Kiattikhun Chartprasert, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden and spouse, along with 40 participants including the Royal Thai Embassy’s officers and staffs with their families, representative from Team Thailand office and Thai community in Stockholm attended the ASEAN Family Day 2017. The event was jointly organized by the ASEAN Embassies in Sweden namely Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines’ Trade and Investment Promotion Office for the Nordic countries at Haga Park in Solna. Over 200 participants joined the said event.

    Reception to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
    On 8 August 2017, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia and spouse attended a reception to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Government House in Canberra. The said event was hosted by His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove. Mr Kuong Koy, Ambassador of Cambodia delivered the opening speech as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra. Participants included representatives from ASEAN Member States, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of government and private sectors, academics and leading business people in Australia, including Mrs. Julie Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia and Senator Penny Wong, Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

    On 11 August 2017, His Excellency Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, joined the ASEAN Heads of Mission in Ottawa, representatives of Global Affairs Canada led by Mr. Ian Burchett, Director-General, South East Asia, and other Canadian institutions, along with colleagues and family members, at the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO)’s annual ASEAN Picnic 2017 at Vincent Massey Park in Ottawa. The event, jointly organized by ASEAN diplomatic missions, provided a great opportunity for the members of the ASEAN countries and their Canadian counterparts to strengthen their existing close relations through national cuisines, games, and activities for both adults and children.

Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver, delivered the opening speech to declare open the Festival with Congratulatory speeches from the Honorable Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, Mr. Raj Chouhan, MLA Burnaby-Edmonds, Mr. Raymond Louie, Acting Mayor of Vancouver, Mr. Chak Au, Acting Mayor of Richmond, Deputy Chief Constable Laurence Rankin, and Ms. Erin Shum, Vancouver Park Board Vice Chair.

    Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver Organized “Thai Cuisine in the Garden” to Promote Thai Cuisine and Thai Food Products
    The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized “Thai Cuisine in the Garden” on 25 July 2017 at the Residence of the Consul-General to promote Thai cuisine and Thai food products, which were also in accordance with Halal standards. The event was highly successful with the participation of numerous high level officials, leading social figures, Consuls-General and members of foreign consular corps, prominent businessmen as well as friends of Thailand in British Columbia. The dignitaries who attended this event included the Honorable Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology of British Columbia, MLA Teresa Wat, former Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for the Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism, and Mr. John Coupar, Vancouver Park Board Commissioner. In addition to the presentation of Thai food products, the demonstration of how to prepare Thai cuisine and the demonstration of Thai arts of vegetable and fruit carving, the Royal Thai Consulate-General also presented Thai classical dances and Thai musical instrument performances to further promote Thai culture among over 70 participants this year.

    On 27 July 2017, ASEAN Committee in Kuwait met with Mr. Farouk A. Bastaki, Managing Director and Mr. Ahmand M.A. Bastaki, Executive Director of Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). The CEO of KiA briefed the Ambassadors on the operations of KIA. KIA manages Kuwait’s sovereign wealth fund, which is derived from 10 percent of the country’s annual oil revenues. Since its creation in 1953, KIA has based its investment decisions exclusively on commercial considerations, not on the political or foreign policy interest of the State of Kuwait, and will continue to do so in the future.

    ASEAN Ambassadors met with the CEO of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED)
    On 9 August 2017, ASEAN Committee in Kuwait paid a visit to the CEO of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). KFAED was established in 1961 to assist Arab countries and other developing countries on their economic development. The assistance comprises in the forms of both loans and funds. In ASEAN, Vietnam has 13 loan projects with KFAED, the most projects in the region. Thailand has received loans from KFAED in 5 projects.
