    Thailand Leads APEC on a “Green Road” towards Sustainable Tourism
    The Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in collaboration with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), organised a Brainstorming Workshop towards an APEC Green Road: Promoting Responsible and Sustainable Tourism in MSMEs on 3 – 6 September 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The workshop was attended by representatives from 11 APEC member economies including China, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand and Viet Nam, as well as from related international organizations and the prominent private companies including APEC Policy Support Unit (PSU), Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), Asian Ecotourism Network (AEN), Organisation for Economic Co - operation and Development (OECD), and Booking.com.

    On 6 September 2018, Mr. Apipan Cheecharoen, Acting Consul-General, and Mr. Paoyee Waesahmae, Consul, represented the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Karachi in presenting the certificates of appreciation to chairman and committee of the Thai Muslim Student Association in Karachi. The certificates aimed to show the Consulate’s appreciation to those who assisted and supported the activities for the Consulate and community during the fiscal year 2018.

    On 5th September 2018, Consul-General Munin Paniswasdi represented the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka in presenting the amount of JPY 100,000.- to Mr. Yoshikazu Yokoe, President of “HAKUZO-KAI”, the Alumni Association of Thai Major, School of Foreign Studies, Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies, to support activities of the Association which is a network of Japanese who are friends of Thailand.

    During 26-27 August 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the MAD Foundation, has organized a visit to Copenhagen of Ms. Supinya Chansuta, also known as “Jay Fai”, chef and owner of Ran Jai Fai, the first and only Thai street food restaurant awarded a Michelin star. “Jay Fai” participated in the 6th MAD Symposium in Copenhagen where she demonstrated how to make her famed “crab omelette” on stage during the opening session of the Symposium.

    Vào ngày 28 tháng 8 năm 2018, Đại sứ quán đã cử bà Chotikorn Limratana, Tham tán Đại sứ quán tới tham dự chương trình biểu diễn trang phục truyền thống ASEAN (ASEAN Traditional Costume Show) cùng đại diện các cơ quan thuộc Phái đoàn Thái Lan tại Việt Nam nhân dịp kỷ niệm 51 năm thành lập tổ chức ASEAN và 73 năm ngày Quốc khánh Việt Nam do Liên hiệp các tổ chức hữu nghị Hà Nội (Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations – HAUFO) phối hợp cùng Sở Văn hóa, Thể thao Hà Nội tổ chức. Chương trình nhằm thắt chặt quan hệ hữu nghị giữa Việt Nam và các quốc gia ASEAN cũng như tiến hành giao lưu văn hóa, nghệ thuật giữa các nước. Chương trình có sự tham gia góp vui của các tiết mục biểu diễn văn hóa, nghệ thuật đặc trưng của các quốc gia như trình diễn trang phục truyền thống ASEAN, biểu diễn nghệ thuật và âm nhạc truyền thống của Indonesia, Lào, Việt Nam và Thái Lan. Thái Lan đã trình diễn tiết mục múa “Bai-sri-su-kwan” và trình diễn trang phục dân tộc do các sinh viên Thái Lan đang theo học tại Đại học Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn Hà Nội thực hiện. Tiết mục đã thu hút được sự quan tâm của đông đảo quan khách tới tham dự sự kiện.

    The Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra joins the Thai community in Australia in celebrating Thailand’s first gold medal in men’s cycling keirin in Asian Games 2018. The 23 year old cyclist was born in Adelaide and started competing in track cycling in Australia for years before joining Team Thailand in September 2017. “I’m so proud to make history for Thailand,” said Jai with tears after his stunning victory.

    On 1 September 2018, the Royal ThaiConsulate General, Karachi and the Department of International Trade Promotion organized the “Thailand Exhibition” at Pearl Continental Hotel, in order to promote Thai products in Pakistan. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Apipan Cheecharoen, Acting Consul General, Mr. Muffasar Atta Malik, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Arif Suleman, Honorary Trade Advisor to Ministry of Commerce, and Mr. Suesak Dangboonrueng, Minister Counsellor (Commercial), Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka. The exhibition was attended by representatives from various agencies, public and private sectors, diplomatic corps, business owners and press.

    Meeting with Department of Home Affairs to discuss the overview of visa regulation for Thai personnel
    On 16 August 2018, Ambassador Nantana Sivakua, led a group of 12 executive members from 9 Thai companies that invested in Australia to meet with officials from Department of Home Affairs, DFAT and Austrade, at the office of Department of Home Affairs. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a face to face session for both sides to discuss and exchange information on rules and regulation regarding various types of visa. The Thai businesses also raised questions in details of how to apply visa for their managerial staff from Thailand to work on a temporary basis in Australia. The meeting was conducted with very positive atmosphere, thanks to the competent and hard-working team from Home Affairs, DFAT and Austrade, and produced the very satisfying outcome. The business executives viewed the meeting as useful and productive, giving them an opportunity to ask questions with ample explanation.
