    On Wednesday 30 May 2018, at 20.30 hrs., H.E. Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Ambassador designate of Thailand to Singapore, together with officers from Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, visited Thai workers at Tuas View Dormitory and to check on the living conditions of Thai workers residing in this dormitory. The event was co-sponsored by the Office of Labour Affairs, Singapore.

    Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu organized activities on Visakha Bucha Day
    On 29 May 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy organized activities on Visakha Bucha Day at Sirikit Vihar, Kirtipur. H.E. Mr. Bhakavat Tanskul, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, together with Embassy’s officials, representatives of Thai Airways International and local Nepali people, approximately 60 people in total, participated in religious activities including chanting, giving offering to the monks, and circumambulation. These activities were organized with an aim of encouraging the Thai community in Nepal to reflect on three important events that took place on Visakha Bucha Day which are the birth, the enlightenment and the passing (nibbana) of Lord Buddha as well as strengthening the synergy of the Thai community in supporting the promotion of Buddhism.

    On 1 May 2018, H.E. Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United Nations, co-hosted the 2018 International Vesak Day Commemorative Event, with the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, in the General Assembly Hall, United Nations Headquarters, New York. The event was participated by the President of the General Assembly, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives, high-level representatives of United Nations Member States, and Honourable Monks. Participants gave their best wishes to one another on this auspicious occasion as well as reflected and drew inspirations from the teachings of Lord Buddha, which remain valid in today’s context. Participants widely acknowledged that Lord Buddha’s teachings are still relevant and closely resonate the principles and the work of the United Nations, which include peace, compassion, human rights and human dignity, non-violence, leading to peaceful coexistence amongst humanity themselves and with nature around them.

    On Friday 25 May 2018 at 18.00 hrs. the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai co-hosted a Buddhist ceremony to mark the occasion of Visakha Bucha Day at the Royal Thai Embassy. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates. The religious ceremony was conducted by two representatives of Thai community in Abu Dhabi, namely Mrs. Buaban C Tucker and Mrs. Vimonnat Tatarirsator.

    Ambassador of Thailand joined in a panel discussion during the 10th European Economic Congress (EEC) in Katowice
    On 15 May 2018, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of Thailand, participated as a panelist in a discussion on “The ASEAN-European Union Economic Co-operation Forum” during the 10th European Economic Congress (EEC) which was organized during 14-16 May 2018 in Katowice. Other panelists from ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW) were Ambassadors and a representative of ASEAN Embassies, together with representatives from the Polish government that is Mr. Pawel Milewski, Director of the Asia-Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Marcin Roszkowski, Head of Foreign Trade Office in Jakarta (Polish Investment and Trade Agency - PAIH). Ambassador Sahussarungsi, in the capacity of the current ACW’s Chair, did the presentation on the overview of ASEAN Community and also presented on the economic potentials of Thailand, as well as the prospect and direction of Thai economy under the policy “Thailand 4.0” and business opportunity for foreign investors in particular under the project of “Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC)” The forum which was considered the first-time ASEAN session in the EEC agendas attracted more than 90 audience. The 3-day event of EEC this year welcomed more than 11,000 visitors including both the executives from private sectors and high-level officials in the Polish government, namely Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki who also attended to deliver a keynote address, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minsters from many Ministries taking part as special panelists in different forums.

    On 8 May 2018, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of Thailand, as the Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW), hosted a welcoming lunch in honour of H.E. Mrs. Chitra Devi Ramiah, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Poland on the occasion of her assumption of duty. Attended were H.E. Mr. Peter Frans Gontha, Ambassador of Indonesia, H.E. Mrs. Patricia Ann Villar Paez, Ambassador of the Philippines, and H.E. Mr. Vu Dang Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam, as well as the officials in charge of ASEAN matters from the ASEAN Embassies. The luncheon was also served as an ACW meeting which focused on the preparation for the ACW Ambassadors to take part as panelists in the 10th European Economic Congress (EEC) in Katowice during 14-16 May 2018. During which, the ACW would jointly organize a panel discussion on ASEAN’s economic potentials, as well as business opportunity in the ASEAN member countries to attract the audience which comprised not only the Polish private sectors but also businessmen from other European countries.

    The launching ceremony of the commemorative stamp and book on relations between the Kingdom of Siam and the Ottoman Empire
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Thailand Post Company Limited organised a press conference on the launching of the commemorative stamp and book on relations between the Kingdom of Siam and the Ottoman Empire entitled “The Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Siam Through the Ages” on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Turkey. The event was held on Thursday the 17th of May 2018 during 14.00-16.30 hrs on the first floor of the Grand Postal Building in Bangrak. H.E. Mr. Damrong Kraikruan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Naiyana Sirisuvun, Senior Executive Vice President of Thailand Post, and H.E. Ms. Evren Dağdelen Akgün, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Kingdom of Thailand, gave opening statements.
