    Opening Ceremony of the Fun Science with Thai Traditional Toys Exhibition at Questacon
    On 19 June 2017 Mr. Suwarong Wongsiri, Vice President of the National Science Museum of Thailand and Professor Graham Durant, Director of Questacon (National Science and Technology Centre of Australia), officially opened the Fun Science with Traditional Thai Toys Exhibition at Questacon in Canberra. Mr. Pawat Ruangvichatron, First Secretary, also attended the event. This event is the result of the longstanding cooperation between National Science Museum of Thailand and Questacon. The Exhibition brings to Australia a rare collection the traditional Thai toys, mainly found in the Northern Provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, and present them with modern scientific facts and local wisdom knowledge. The visitors are able to play with the toys as well as make them. The Exhibition is situated in Gallery 5 and goes on until 16 October 2017.

    Making Funeral Flowers for Royal Cremation
    On 16 July 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy organized a special activity to make funeral flowers called Dok Mai Chan for the Royal Cremation Ceremony for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Sala Thai. A large number of the Thai community in Canberra and nearby areas with deep reverence for the late King turned out for this special acitivity. They were given instructions on how to make Dok Mai Chan into a variety of flowers including Daffodils, Roses, and Peonies, which are to be given to mourners in paying their last respects to the beloved late King on 26 October 2017, the date on which the Royal Cremation will take place.

    Miss World Australia Crowning Ceremony 2017
    On 14 July 2017, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, attended Miss World Australia Crowning Ceremony 2017 at Grand Hyatt Melbourne. The Ambassador crowned Miss Esma Voloder, the winner of this year’s competition, with a tiara designed and sponsored by Phuket Pearl Group from Thailand. Miss World Australia 2017 will be Brand Ambassador of Tourism Authority of Thailand. Miss World Australia 2017 and the four runners up will visit Thailand under Women’s Journey Thailand 2017 programme in August 2017 to help promote Thai tourism in Australia.

    Ambassador of Thailand attended the inaugural dinner of Thailand Australia Network
    On 13 July 2017, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, attended the inaugural dinner of Thailand Australia Network (TAN) in Melbourne as inaugural patron. TAN has been established by the group of Thai and Australian businessmen with the Honorary Thai Consul-General of Thailand in Melbourne as Chairman of the Board. The organisation aims to create a venue for business people with an interest in trading with Thailand to exchange information and network through informal dinners and other activities. The Hon. Heidi Victoria, Shadow Minister for Arts & Culture, Tourism & Major events, and Aboriginal Affairs of Victoria also attended the event.

    On 17 July 2017, H.E. Ambassador Manasvi Srisodapol presented to H.E. Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of Mission of the Kingdom of Thailand to the European Union and to the European Atomic Energy Community. On this occasion, Ambassador Srisodapol exchanged views with the President of European Council on how to enhance and strengthen Thailand-EU and ASEAN-EU relations.

    The Royal Thai Embassy in Rabat, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Federation of Boxing Muay Thai Savate and Assimilated Sports, has recently organized events to promote Thai Boxing in Morocco, namely: Thailand-Morocco Thai Boxing Friendship Cup and Thai Boxing Workshop for Moroccan Thai Boxing Trainers. These activities are part of the Embassy’s strategy to promote Thai Boxing in Morocco in the year 2017 after the Ambassador’s Cup Thai Boxing Tournament in Casablanca on 25 – 26 March 2017.
