The heart of His Majesty's agricultural efforts is his realisation that if the environment is impacted by development then all other areas of Thailand's economy are adversely affected. His Majesty has, therefore, stressed the need to preserve the environment:

"Environmental problems will cause the world to change...It is thus our duty as citizens of the world to have knowledge and a clear understanding in order for us to find the way to solve the problem correctly."

To that end, he has initiated a number of programmes designed to preserve farms and forests, to eliminate environmental problems, and to restore damaged areas.
