--> ปี 2554 เป็นปีแห่งมิตรภาพอันยิ่งใหญ่ เนื่องจากเป็นปีแห่งการเฉลิมฉลอง 500 ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างไทยกับโปรตุเกส ซึ่งเป็นมหาอำนาจตะวันตกชาติ แรกในขณะนั้นที่เข้ามาเจริญสัมพันธไมตรีกับไทย และเป็นชาติที่ไทยมีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตยาวนานที่สุด และที่สำคัญยิ่ง สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความเป็นเอกราชและความ เจริญของไทยที่มีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตกับมหาอำนาจตะวันตกมาอย่างยาวนาน
--> 2011 is an important year in the “great friendship” between Thailand and Portugal, because it celebrates the 500 years anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In this regard, Portugal was the first Western power to establish diplomatic relations with Thailand, as well as the country Thailand enjoyed the longest diplomatic relations with. The duration of this great friendship exemplifies Thailand’s independence and development, as reflected in the long and close diplomatic tie Thailand has with a Western power.
