As a gesture of goodwill and a token of long standing friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Poksak Nilubol, President of Thailand-Cambodia Culture Association, and the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand together with the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh travelled to Battambang Province on 18 August 2009 to contribute a budget of 1,069,000 baht for the restoration plan of Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr's mansion (roof restortion), which has been served as the Battambang provincial hall for many years and has been once restored in 1996, to H.E. Mr. Prach Chann, Governor of Battambang Province. The restoration plan is the cooperation between the Thai and Cambodian government and, once fully restored the mansion should serve as a museum and one of the symbolic links between Thailand and Cambodia.

Mr. Chalotorn PHAOVIBUL, Minister and Charge' d'Affaires a.i of the Thai Embassy and H.E. Mr. UK Socheat, Secretary of State and representative of the Ministry of Culture of Cambodia, presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai-Cambodian cultural night performance on Saturday 21 March 2009 at 18.30 hrs. at the Royal Thai Embassy Ballroom. There were Combodian cultural shows perfomed by artists from the Ministry of Culture of Cambodia and followed by Thai cultural shows perfomed by artists from Surin, a province in the north east of Thailand, considered as southern Isan adn very well known for the elephants' festival.
