Press Release
Current protests in Thailand
1. Freedom of speech and expression are guaranteed under the Thai Constitution. The peaceful voicing of dissent and differences
of opinion is a normal part of the democratic process in Thailand.
2. The situation has been under control. Both the protesters and the government have shown restraint and demonstrated a commitment to nonviolence.
3. The protests are mainly confined to the area around Government House, away from the usual tourist attractions. Though an inconvenience in terms of traffic in that area, the protests pose no harm to the ordinary man on the street, including tourists.
