Deputy Foreign Minister distributed certificates of recognition to students from southern border provinces who participated in the 2nd Internship and Training Program for Students from Southern Border Provinces at the Foreign Ministry

On 9 may 2007, Mr. Sawanit Kongsiri, Deputy Foreign Minister, presides over the closing ceremony of the 2nd Internship and Training Program for Students from Southern Border Provinces, and also distributes certificates of recognition to 30 university students. The internship and training program was organized by Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during 22 April – 2 May 2009.


In his closing remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister encourages the students to apply experiences and knowledge gained from this program to develop themselves as well as their local communities. He also encourages students to study hard, finish their study and become the future intellects of our country and help develop the southern border provinces.


The training program was initiatiated last year with the aims to encourage students from southern border provinces to have an opportunity to exchange and share their experiences with Muslim communities and Muslim Students in Bangkok as well as to learn about the work of the Foreign Ministry as the representative of Thailand in cultivating relations and cooperation with foreign countries.


This year, 30 university students including 20 Muslims and 10 Buddhists from southern border provinces participated the program. During the three week long program, the students participated in many interesting activities including meeting with the Sheikul Islam, visited many interesting places, exchanged views and experiences with Muslim students studying in Bangkok and trained at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
