Thai Boxing Celabration Match in Milan

As an activity to commemorate the 140 years of relationship between Thailand and Italy, the Royal Thai Embassy sponsored a Muay Thai match in the “14th Oktagon Kick-boxing Context” on 14 March 2009 at Palasharp in Milan.


 


The event was organized by the Oktagon in collaboration with the Italian Kick-boxing Federation and was patronized by the Sport and Leisure Councillorship of the Milan City Council and the Councillorship for Youth, Sport and Tourist Activities Promotion of the Region of Lombardia.


 


A Thai boxer, Mr. Prajaksin Kaenjanbai, from Muay Thai Association of Thailand fought and won his Italian opponent under 71 Kilogram match.


 


The event was attended by nearly 10,000 spectators and was broadcasted to 7 countries in Europe. It was an occasion to help promote a closer cultural relation between Thailand and Italy.


 


Muay Thai is a popular sport in Italy. The main Muay Thai associations in the country are the Federazione Italiana Muay Thai based in Rome and Milan and the Federazione Italiana Kickboxing in Monza. Besides, there are a number of Muay Thai associated associations and training schools in other main cities of Italy. Muay Thai tournaments and kick boxing matches have been organized in Italy throughout the year.
