GUIDELINE FOR VISA APPLICATION
Types of Visa
1. Transit Visa
- This type of visa will be issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:
- to travel in transit through the Kingdom in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country.
- to participate in sports activities.
- the person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom.
- Documents Required
- Visa application form completely filled out in English
- Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than 6 months
- Three recent photograph of the applicant (passport-sized photo or 4x6 cm.)
- Evidence of adequate finance
- Instrument of means of transportation
(i.e. confirmed air ticket paid in full)
- Letter of invitation to participate in sport activities in Thailand
- Visa Fee
- 140 L.E./entry/person
- Validity of Visa
- Three months
- Validity of Stay
- Travelers coming to Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days
2. Tourist Visa
- This type of visa will be issued to applicants wishing to enter the Kingdom for tourism purpose
- Documents Required
- Visa Application form completely filled out in English
- Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than 6 months
- Three recent photograph of the applicant (passport-sized photo or 4x6 cm.)
- Evidence of adequate finance
- Instrument of means of transportation (i.e. confirmed air ticket paid in full)
- Visa Fee
- 175 L.E./entry/person
- Validity of Visa
- Three months
- Validity of Stay
- Upon arrival, visitors with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 60 days
3. Non-Immigrant Visa
- This type of visa will be issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the following purposes:
- to perform official duties
- to conduct business/to work
- to invest with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries and Government Departments concerned
- to invest or perform other activities relating to investment, subject to the provision of the established law on investment promotion
- to study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminar, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a Buddhist monk
- to work as a film producer, journalist or reporter
- to perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrences of the Thai Ministries or Government Department concerned
- to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute
- to undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist
- other activities
- Documents Required
- Visa Application form completely filled out in English
- Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than 6 months
- Three recent photograph of the applicant (passport-sized photo or 4x6 cm.)
- Relevant documents depending on the purpose of their visit
- Visa Fee
- 350 L.E. for single entry
- 850 L.E. for multiple entries
- Validity of Visa
- Single-entry visa is valid for three months
- Multiple-entry visa is valid for one year
- Validity of Stay
- The holder of this type of visa are initially granted a eriod of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days nless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau
Extension of Stay
Those who wish to stay longer or change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Rd, Bangkok 10120. Tel. 02-287-3101-10 (or at website http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration Office.
Issuance Procedure
- The Embassy will review the application after submission, which may result in the
refusal of visa or the number of entry reduced;
- Visa processing takes three working days;
- Incomplete or inaccurate application will be disregarded;
- Interview may be requested for any individual;
- A copy of ID Card must be submitted whenever applying for visa or receiving
passports on behalf of others;
- Queue number must be obtained from the security guard before entering the
Embassy to apply for visa and to receive the passport back. The number is deemed
forfeited if the applicant is not present at the time the number is called, lose the
number or leave the Embassy.
