Foreign Minister briefs diplomatic corps on the current political situation and security measures
On 9 March 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya briefed the diplomatic corps on the current political situation in Thailand in connection to the upcoming planned demonstrations by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) and the security measures prepared in light of the situation. A total of 100 participants from various diplomatic missions and international organisations as well as representatives of the foreign business community, including 19 ambassadors, attended the event.


Foreign Minister Kasit hand over letter of intent for humanitarian assistance to Chile
On 9 March 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, handed over the letter of intent of the Royal Thai Government to provide humanitarian assistance in the amount of 100,000 US dollars to Chile. Mr. Alberto Yoacham Soffia, Ambassador of Chile to Thailand received the said letter in the ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry.

Thai – Polish bilateral ties strengthened :
On 9 March 2010, Mr. Pawel Wojciechowski, Under-Secretary of State of Poland, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, on the occasion of the former’s visit to Thailand during 7 – 9 March 2010.
Thai Delegation on Anti-Trafficking in Persons to Washington D.C. 20-28 February 2010 :
During 20-28 February 2010, Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Director General, Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs led a delegation of representatives from key agencies concerned with issues of human trafficking and child labor to Washington D.C. The trip is part of Thailand’s continuous efforts to provide information and better understanding to the U.S. side in the State Department’s preparation of its annual report on the situation of human trafficking worldwide.

On 29 January 2010, H.E. Ambassador of Thailand to Hungary attended the inauguration of the new Croatian President :
On 18 February 2010, H.E. Mr. Karn Chiranond, the Thai Ambassador to Hungary and Special Envoy of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand attended the inauguration of the 3rd Croatian President-elect Prof. Dr. Ivo Josipović.

On 4 March 2010, H.E. Mr. Karn Chiranond, the new Thai Ambassador to Hungary, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Péter Balázs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. The Ambassador and the Minister discussed wide range of issues regarding Thailand-Hungary relations. The Minister acknowledges Thailand’s potential as a bridge linking Hungary to Asia which is a region that Hungary attaches high importance.

On 25 February 2010 from 07.30 to 10.00 p.m., Miss Nutcha Tritabyapong, Minister Counsellor of the Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore led a team of four officers – namely Ms Tanya Laohathai, Consul, Mr. Srunyu Ampartrakarn, Second Secretary, Mr. Watcharakrit Yaem-Ot, Consular Officer at the Royal Thai Embassy and Mr. Rungroj Teekamongkol from the Office of Labour Affairs – to pay a visit to Thai workers at the Murai Lodge II which is a dormitory for foreign workers situated on 1A, Murai Farmway road, Lim Chu Kang Area
Thailand Day at University of Valladolid :
On 24 February 2010, H.E. Ms. Atchara Seriputra, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain gave an overview lecture on politics, economics, social, culture and tourism of Thailand to the students of Escuela Universitaria de Estudios Empresariales of the University of Valladolid. The role of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in initiating various Royal projects for the well-being of the Thai people and the Thais’ deep gratitude and respect to H.M. the King were also highlighted.
H.E. Mr.Piyawat Niyomrerks, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand visited Dipaduttamaramaya temple, Colombo, Sri Lanka :
On 4 March, 2010, a delegation led by H.E. Mr.Piyawat Niyomrerks, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand visited Dipaduttamaramaya temple, Colombo, Sri Lanka to return the Pinnacle of the Historic Ratana Chetiya and to attend the Unveiling Ceremony of the said pinnacle.

Recently, Ambassador hosted dinner at the residence for two Thai Golfers, “The Asian No 1,Thongchai Jaidee”accompanied with Prayad Marksaeng and party on a visit to Doha to compete in the most prestigious European Master golf tournament, “the Commercialbank Qatar Master” at the Doha Golf Course during 28-31 Jan 2010.
