The Opening of the 10th Meeting of the ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Disaster Relief
On 2 September 2010, Mrs. Chitriya Pinthong, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Judith Cefkin, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the US Embassy in Thailand, co-chaired the opening ceremony of “10th Meeting of the ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Disaster Relief” being held during 2-3 September 2010, at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel in Bangkok. |

Thailand and Montenegro strengthen relationship
On 30 August 2010, during his official visit to Montenegro by invitation of his Montenegrin counterpart, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, paid a courtesy call on the President and Prime Minister of Montenegro and also held bilateral talks with the Montenegrin Foreign Minister and Economic Minister. On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit visited Port of Bar, the most important port of Montenegro as well. |

The 2010 Consular Officials Meeting :
On 31 August 2010, Mr. Theerakul Niyom, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of the “2010 Consular Officials Meeting” held at the Chaophya Park Hotel, Bangkok, from 31 August – 3 September 2010. The Permanent Secretary was briefed by Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, on the background and objectives of the Meeting. The ceremony was attended by high ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry, as well as consular officials from 91 Royal Thai Embassies, Royal Thai Consulates-General, and Thailand Trade and Economic Office Taipei. In addition, the heads of Temporary Passport Offices from various provinces also took part in the event. The Foreign Ministry has invited several guest speakers from the Ministry and other relevant agencies to brief and exchange views with the participants. |

Enhancing trade cooperation between Thailand and South Africa:
Ambassador Tharit Charungvat recently met with Mr. Xavier Carim, Deputy Director –General for International Trade and Economic Development of DTI, to discuss avenues for enhancing trade cooperation between Thailand and South Africa. Also in attendance was Mr. Somdet Susomboon, Minister (Commercial), and officials of DTI.
