Foreign Minister holds talk with the Vietnamese Foreign Minister
On 6 February 2012, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul held talk with Mr. Pham Binh Minh, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister, who was on his official visit to Thailand at the invitation of the former. After the meeting, Foreign Minister Surapong hosted dinner in honour of the Vietnamese Foreign Minister and his delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On this occasion, both sides discussed ways and means to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, in particular the convening of the Second Thailand-Vietnam Cabinet Meeting, as well as the multilateral cooperation.
Foreign Minister visits Thai- Myanmar Friendship Bridge Border Checkpoint
On 3 February 2012, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, together with officials from the Foreign Ministry, paid a visit to the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge border checkpoint in Mae Sot District, Tak Province and the Myawaddy Special Economic Zone in Myanmar. The said visit is part of the Ministry’s “Roving Bua Kaew Project” aimed at meeting with local government agencies, businesses and people in the area, as well as learning about their issues in order to encompass their views when formulating foreign policy. The visit also provides an opportunity for those living in distant areas to understand better the work of the Government in the area of foreign affairs. In this regard, during the visit, representatives from the Ministry provided a briefing on the realization of the ASEAN Community in 2015.
Opening Ceremony on the occasion of 60th Anniversary of Thai-Australian Diplomatic Relations :
On 2 February 2012, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow over the Opening Ceremony of the 60th Anniversary of Thai-Australian Diplomatic Relations at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Present were Australian Ambassador James Wise, as well as those involved in promoting Thai-Australian relations, be they from the public and private sectors, diplomatic corps, academic circle, as well as the general public at large.
Consul General in Kolkata Opens Arts Exhibition in Santiniketan : Mr Prasittidesh Vichitsorasatra, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, Mr. Sukoom Somprasonk, Deputy Consul General and Mr. Monton Wonglert, Consul, visited Santiniketan, to open an art exhibition “Art Camp” organized by Visva-Bharati University
