Financial aid handed over to Haiti

On 21 January 2010 (Mexico’s local time), Mrs. Charuwan Thiemthad, Thai Ambassador to Mexico, as representative of the Royal Thai Government handed over 100,000 US dollars financial assistance to Mr. Robert Manuel, Haitian Ambassador to Mexico, for disaster relief following the massive earthquake in Haiti last week. The Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico will coordinate closely with the Mexican government to procure and deliver medical supplies, equipment, and other items in urgent need to Haiti through Mexican government’s transportation arrangement. Mr. Saroj Thanasunti, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico, will be travelling with the Mexican airplane to Haiti to present the first shipment of humanitarian assistance, and to contact with disaster relief organizations in the area to collect first hand information for Thailand’s consideration in further assisting Haiti in the rehabilitation phase.
