On 24 February 2010, Mr. Thianchai Niyom, Mr. Siri Eiamchamroonlarp, Mr. Chairat Prasertlum and Mrs. Waewdao Limlenglert District Governors of Rotary International presented a donation of Baht 1,000,000 to Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Foreign Ministry. The contribution is a part of the financial assistance from the Thai private sector to help the victims of earthquake in Haiti. The Foreign Ministry will coordinate with the United Nations (UN) in channeling Thailand’s contributions to help Haiti accordingly.

During 20-21 February 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led a group of ambassadors and diplomats from embassies of 12 countries such as Peru, Argentina, South Africa, Chile, Canada, Switzerland etc., on a visit to the Southern Border Provinces (SBPs). The trip provided an opportunity for the foreign envoys to have a comprehensive picture and understanding on the current situation in the SBPs.

On 19 February 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya presided over the reception to launch Thailand’s Commitments and Pledges for her candidacy to the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) Election for the term 2010 – 2013.
