On 19 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Andras Balogh, Hungarian Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the completion of his assignment to the Kingdom.
On 19 August 2010, at Foreign Ministry, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Wim Kok, President of Club de Madrid and Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
On 17 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered an opening remark at the “Roundtable Discussion on Global Economic Crisis and the Asia-Pacific Region: Sustaining Asian Dynamism in a Post-Crisis World” at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, jointly organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Club de Madrid and the Casa Asia. The event was attended by a number of prominent figures, namely Ms. Noeleen Heyzer, Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Mr. Wim Kok, President of Club de Madrid, and Mr. Jesus Sanz, Director-General of Casa Asia.
On 17 August 2010, a group of Australian businessmen paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to receive a briefing on investment opportunity in Thailand. The briefing session was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Ministry’s projects to promote the transfer of production base from Australia to Thailand.
In the evening of 13 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand, co-hosted the Iftar Dinner for the diplomatic corps from Islamic countries in Thailand, Islamic religious leaders, academics, and prominent figures at the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand.
On 11 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Ron Hoffmann, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand, together with Ms. Maryantonett Flumian, President of the Institute on Governance of Canada, Ms. Laura Edgar, Vice President of the Institute on Governance of Canada, and Ms. Jennifer May, Counsellor of the Embassy of Canada, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways and means to promote good governance and institution-building on the matter in Thailand.
On 10 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a farewell reception for Mr. El Hassane Zahid, Ambassador of Morocco to Thailand, Mr. Mohamed Ashraf Mohamed Kamal, Ambassador of Egypt to Thailand, Mr. Hafeez Mohammed Salem, Ambassador of Kuwait to Thailand, and Mr. Cinar Aldemir, Ambassador of Turkey to Thailand, on the completion of their respective assignments to the Kingdom of Thailand.
On 9 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of activities to celebrate the 78th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The celebration was held in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s activities in various areas, particularly her contribution in foreign affairs and conservation of Thai arts and cultures, for the acknowledgement of the diplomatic corps as well as Thai and foreign dignitaries.
On 6 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Edgard Telles Ribeiro, Ambassador of Brazil to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the completion of his assignment to the Kingdom.
On 5 August 2010, Mr. Mohamed Ashraf El Kholy, Ambassador of Egypt to Thailand, paid a courtesy called on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of his completion of assignment.
On 5 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Cinar Aldemir, Turkish Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the completion of his assignment to the Kingdom.
On 5 August 2010, at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met a group of representatives from various labor unions in Thailand led by Mr. Chalee Loysoong, coordinator, who would like to seek the Foreign Ministry’s support for Thailand to ratify the International Labor Organization’s Conventions, namely the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize Convention, 1948 (No. 87) and the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949 (No. 98).
On 2 August 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave a lecture on “Relations between Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Muslim Community” held at the Foreign Ministry to the representatives of Thai Muslim from different sectors including religious leaders, community leaders and Muslim media members around 200 persons, in order to inform them about the Foreign Ministry’s role in the relations with Muslim world, promoting Muslim affairs and supporting Thai Muslim community.
On 29 July 2010, Mr. Marc Mealy, Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), led a delegation of 23 leading American companies to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the Council annual visit to Thailand, at the Foreign Ministry.
On 28 July 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of “Workshop on Unresolved Maritime Boundaries: Gulf of Thailand Focus” held at the Foreign Ministry.
On 23 July 2010, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed a group of school administrators from the three Southern Border Provinces who have participated in a study visit on education management in Australia during 17-23 July 2010. This activity was conducted under the “Thai Strategy towards Muslim World Project” of the Foreign Ministry. The visiting party also took this opportunity to brief the Permanent Secretary on the outcome of their study visit.
On 15 July 2010, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was presented with the “Fulbright Caring Leader Across Cultures Award” by Ms. Alina Ramonowski, Deputy Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of State, in honour of Her Royal Highness’ dedication to the peoples of different cultures, serving as an excellent example to the world community at large. The presentation was held during the “International Symposium on Caring Leaders across Cultures” in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Thailand, presided over by Her Royal Highness and co-hosted by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the U.S. Department of State, and the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation (TUSEF/ Fulbright Thailand), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 18 July 2010, Mr. Jeremy Browne, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his official visit to Southeast Asia, at Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel.
On 16 July 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Third Thai-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. William J. Burns, Under Secretary for Political Affairs of the United States Department of State, and attended by senior officials from both sides.
On 14 July 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a discussion on the topic of “The Mechanisms, Preventive Measures and Suppression of International Corruption” which is a part of the Office of the National Counter Corruption Commission’s training program, at Royal River Hotel, Bangkok.
