Islam is one of the worlds major religions. At present, there are more than one billion Muslims living in various countries around the world. In Thailand, Islam is the second largest religion after Buddhism. Indeed, the Muslim way of life has been an integral part of Thai society ever since the founding of the Kingdom of Sukhothai many centuries ago.
Throughout the month of Ramadan, the observance of fasting is considered as an important duty of Muslims all over the world so as to honour God and to cleanse and purify their bodies and souls from worldly activities. Hence, Ramadan is a sacred period for Muslims worldwide.
