Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Co-host the Conference on ASEAN MSMEs in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities

The ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) and the Joint Standing Committeeon Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB), together with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion (OSMEP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, will host the Conference on ASEAN MSMEs in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunitieson Thursday 5thSeptember 2019, at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel.

This Conference is intended to be a platform for discussing the opportunities for ASEAN MSMEs to harness new technologies to advance their businesses, ways of enhancing their readiness in the digital economy, and exchanging experiences and best practices on the issues of inclusive finance.  Participants will include representatives from ASEAN and partner countries from the government and business sectors, academics, international and civil society organizations, as well as representatives of the G20 members and guest countries.  This is in line with the proposal made by the Prime Minister of Thailand – as the Chair of ASEAN – at the G20 Osaka Summit this past June, to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and the G20 in the area of financial inclusion.  On this occasion, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister, will deliver opening remarks and keynote address. 

 The Conference will be conducted in English and comprises  four sessions as follows:

1.   Advancing MSMEs 4.0 with Digital Transformation

2.    Enhancing Capability for MSMEs through Public-Private Partnership

3.    Financial Inclusion for MSMEs

4.    Digitalization of Ecosystem for Financial Inclusion
