Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka meets with Vice Governor of Osaka Prefecture

          On 22 February 2020 Consul-General Krit Tankanarat met with the newly appointed Vice Governor Nobuhiko Yamaguchi of the Osaka Prefecture at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka.

          On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen Thai - Osaka relations in areas such as economic, cultural, social and consular affairs. On the economic front, the Consulate-General continuously organizes events to promote trade and investment to create concrete and sustainable results that are beneficial to both sides. On the cultural front, the Consulate-General will organize the 18th Thai Festival this upcoming May 2020, exhibiting Thai food, products and culture during this two days event. On the social front, both Thailand and Japan will cooperate to combat the COVID-19 virus. On the consular front, Osaka Prefecture continuously updates the Consulate-General with current event information, especially on the situation of the COVID-19 virus which the Consulate-General disseminated to Thai community.

          Mr. Yamaguchi was Director of the Department of Policy and Planning of the Osaka Prefecture before being appointed as Vice Governor in December 2019. He was involved in the organizing the G20 Summit in Osaka and Japan’s bid to host the World Expo 2025.
