On 23 – 24 May 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate – General, Kota Bharu, in collaboration with the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) and the Central Institute of Forensic Science, jointly organised a consular programme at the Consulate-General with an aim of providing assistance to Thais in Malaysia to register themselves in the civil registration system. Mr. Phasit Chudabuddhi, Consul-General to Kota Bharu, and Rear Admiral Somkeart Ponprayoon, Rtn., Secretary General of the SPBAC, presided over the opening ceremony. This year, the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand as well as the Central Civil Registration Office, Ministry of Interior, and Tak Bai and Su-ngai Kolok Districts also participated in the programme to provide useful advice while observing the process. The 2-day event will eventually enable 97 Thai participants from 36 families in Kelantan and Terengganu, to gain better access to social welfare and services provided by all government agencies, including the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Kota Bharu.
