On 17 October 2020, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat delivered the opening remarks at the Japan-Thailand Cultural Day in Kyoto under the theme “The Day to know Thailand” organized by the Japan-Thailand Educational Exchange Society. Present were Mr. Eitaro Kondo, Advisor to the Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly. There were 90 people who attended the event.

On this occasion, Consul-General Krit thanked and praised Japan-Thailand Educational Exchange Society and its members for successfully initiating the Thai-Japanese cultural exchange event in this new normal era, bringing about a new evolution in the event organization which not only yielded tangible outcomes but set an example for future Thai-related activities. In this regard, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka stands ready to assist and cooperate with the Japan-Thailand Educational Exchange Society to further strengthen Thai-Japanese relations at the people-to-people level.

Japan-Thailand Cultural Day in Kyoto is an annual event organized by the Japan-Thailand Educational Exchange Society since 2016, with Mr. Shigeyo Kimura as its Chairman. The aim of the event is to publicize and exchange Thai and Japanese culture through various activities. During the past years, the event was organized outdoor but given the COVID-19 situation, this year’s event was adapted to be in-door incorporating the online presentation of Thai cultural dance and music such as the Japanese drum performance from Pratumkongka School in Bangkok and the Busaba Thai Classical Dance School from Nonthaburi Province.
