Thailand and Mexico concurred with the utilization of both sides’ geographical advantages as gateways to their respective regions to augment bilateral commerce and investment, including the exchanges of private sectors’ visit, such as the Latin Link 2023 project organized by Thailand, which brought Thai businessmen to Mexico after the 5th Meeting of PC, participation in trade and exhibition fairs and usages of online platform to promote commerce between the two sides, particularly for SMEs.

Both sides acknowledged potentials for investment collaboration in the auto industry, medical tourism, aviation, logistics, biofuel and biochemicals and medical hub, as well as investment in Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), particularly in EV industry. Both sides intend to advance technical cooperation in accordance with the draft Plan of Action of Development Cooperation Program between Thailand and Mexico, collaboration in science and technology, and development of human resources through workshops and trainings. They also look forward to pursuing activities under the draft Working Program on Cultural Cooperation between Thailand and Mexico, and facilitating travels between the two countries. Additionally, both sides discussed the promotion of mutual support in multilateral frameworks, such as the United Nations, APEC, ASEAN, and Pacific Alliance (PA), including cooperation on climate change, 2030 agenda for development, especially collaboration on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), nuclear-weapon free zones and related matters.

The 5th Meeting of Political Consultations between Thailand and Mexico was an important achievement between the two sides and a mechanism in propelling the relations and cooperation between the two countries. Mexico is one of Thailand’s top trading partners in Latin America and the Caribbean with overall bilateral trade volume in 2022 of 4,150.60 million US dollars and a high potential of trade expansion. The Thai side expects to host the 6th Meeting of Political Consultations between Thailand and Mexico in 2025, as part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mexico.
