The ASEAN SOM discussed key issues including Timor-Leste’s membership in ASEAN and enhancing ASEAN’s relations with external parties. The Meeting was also briefed by the ASEAN Geoeconomics Task Force (AGTF) on their progress in monitoring, analysing, and coming up with recommendations for ASEAN in response to the rising global economic volatility.
Thailand, as ASEAN’s Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation, pushed forward the report on “Complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” (Complementarities Initiative 2.0: CI 2.0), aimed at promoting synergy and complementarity between the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report is expected to be finalised and submited to the 15th ASEAN-UN Summit in October this year for notation.
