On 8 August 2019, His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, presided over the inauguration of the new ASEAN Secretariat building in Jakarta organised by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the ASEAN Secretariat. The 52nd ASEAN day celebration was also held on the same occasion.

His Excellency Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, as ASEAN Chair, attended the functions. In joining other ASEAN Foreign Ministers, Foreign Minister Don brought a message from the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand which was placed inside a Time Capsule, along with messages from the other ASEAN Leaders. All ten messages in the Time Capsule will be made public again in the year 2042 at the celebration of the 75th ASEAN Day.
