On 2 November 2019, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, during the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. Mr.Guterres thanked Thailand for supporting the United Nations and multilateral cooperation, particularly Thailand's role as the Chairman of ASEAN in driving forward the 2030 Agenda. The Prime Minister and the United Nations Secretary-General exchanged views on various issues such as climate change, sustainable development, environment, and Thailand’s partnership with the United Nations, as well as the 75th anniversary of UN celebration in 2020.
