On 30 January 2020, Miss Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria presented to H.E. Mr. Borat Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia the Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Slovenia, with residence in Vienna.
The President of Slovenia expressed his well wishes for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuha of the Kingdom of Thailand. Ambassador Morakot thanked the President and conveyed a message of well wishes from the Royal Thai government and its peoples to the Slovenian government and her peoples. She reaffirmed the commitment to enhance relations and cooperation with Slovenia in all dimensions both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Within multilateral framework, Thailand and Slovenia shared common value and belief in multilateralism. She thanked Slovenia for her support in cooperation with Asian Partners for Cooperation in the framework of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Bilaterally, Ambassador Sriswasdi will push forward closer cooperation in trade and investment as well as in culture and people-to-people contact of both countries to their full potentials.
The President of Slovenia agreed that now is the time that the two countries should strengthen cooperation and relations. In the past, Slovenia focused mainly on Europe but now it will focus more on Asia and Africa. In this connection, the President will be glad to visit Thailand or have an opportunity to welcome high level delegates from Thailand.
Ambassador Sriswasdi also updated the President of Slovenia on important information, including Thai – EU FTA, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Views and opinions on Brexit and its impact were also discussed.
