On 1 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, at a reception held to commemorate the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom, as well as the 80th anniversary of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT).
 
The Prime Minister delivered remarks highlighting the strong and enduring ties spanning over 170 years, particularly the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2024. He also underscored the role of Thailand and the United Kingdom as partners in development, as well as Thailand’s investments in the United Kingdom, which have contributed to strengthening close people-to-people ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of advancing negotiations towards a Free Trade Agreement between the two sides to further expand opportunities for trade and investment.
