H.E. Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuprai, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, as Head of the Thai delegation is scheduled to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit during 6 – 7 July 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, the Federative Republic of Brazil.

The meeting, under Brazil’s Chairmanship this year, will be held under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” The six priority areas include (1) Global Health, (2) Trade, Investment, Finance, (3) Climate Change, (4) Artificial Intelligence Governance, (5) Reform of the Peace and Security Multilateral System, and (6) Institutional Development. This meeting is an important opportunity to reaffirm Thailand’s readiness as a Partner Country in advancing cooperation under the BRICS framework, and to highlight Thailand’s constructive role in promoting collaboration with developing countries, particularly in strengthening multilateralism for the shared benefit of developing countries, enhancing economic and financial cooperation, artificial intelligence, environmental issues, and public health.

BRICS is a multilateral cooperation framework among high-potential developing countries. It consists of 10 member states and 10 partner countries from diverse regions, collectively representing nearly half of the world’s population. BRICS focuses on three main pillars of cooperation: (1) politics and security; (2) economy and finance; and (3) cultural and people-to-people exchanges, encompassing a wide range of sectors. Thailand began its engagement with BRICS in 2017, when it was invited to participate in the first BRICS Plus Leaders’ Meeting in Xiamen, the People’s Republic of China.
