In response to media enquiries about security challenges in some parts of Myanmar and the upcoming general elections in Myanmar on 8 November 2020, Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Director-General of Information Department and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, stated as follows:
"Thailand reaffirms its support for holding of free, fair, and transparent elections in Myanmar, and the importance of ensuring that the elections be conducted successfully in a safe and peaceful manner.
Thailand looks forward to further strengthening our “Natural Strategic Partnership” with Myanmar in all areas of common interest and stands ready to support Myanmar’s endeavour to overcome challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic."
