On 26 - 28 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined the Thai delegation led by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, in attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the invitation of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, as the ASEAN Chair for 2025. The 47th ASEAN Summit, held under the theme "Inclusivity and Sustainability," marked the Prime Minister’s first participation in a multilateral meeting. On 24 - 25 October 2025, the Foreign Minister also attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), the 30th ASEAN Political - Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, the 37th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting, the ASEAN Joint Foreign and Economic Ministers’ (AMM-AEM) Meeting, and the Extended Informal Consultation on the Implementation of the Five - Point Consensus on Myanmar, in preparation for the 47th ASEAN Summit.

Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to playing an active role as a "strategic player in driving peace, prosperity, and development” and exchanged views with ASEAN leaders on future directions to strengthen the ASEAN Community in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Discussions underscored the importance of upholding ASEAN unity and centrality, as well as fostering inclusive and sustainable economic integration and development through the promotion of intra-regional trade. Thailand also highlighted the need to advance the green and digital transformations, with an aim of signing the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) by 2026. In addition, Thailand took part in deliberations on key regional issues, such as the situation in Myanmar; the Thailand - Cambodia situation; online scams, which Thailand offered to host an international meeting to address the issue in a systematic and comprehensive manner; transboundary haze; natural disasters; and pandemic preparedness.

During the Summits with ASEAN’s external partners, namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, the U.S., New Zealand (Commemorative Summit), and the United Nations, Thailand discussed directions for cooperations on key issues of mutual interest, including the enhancement of collaborations with dialogue partners to promote cooperation in addressing transboundary issues, particularly transnational crime, online scams, and transboundary haze, and promoting regional supply chains; upgrading the existing free trade agreements; financial cooperation; food security; and disaster management. The meetings also emphasized the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, aligning with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, under the Complementarities Initiative 2.0, which was inititaed by Thailand.

In addition, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister also participated in other key events, including Signing of the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste into ASEAN, the Reception on the Occasion of Timor-Leste's Accession to ASEAN, the Gala Lunch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand dialogue relations, and bilateral discussions with leaders, high-level representatives of international organizations, and ministers who attended the Summits.
