Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit Hungary and the Federal Republic of Germany during 3 - 8 June 2013.
DPM/FM Surapong will pay an official visit to Hungary from 3 - 4 June 2013 at the invitation of Mr. Janos Martonyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. DPM/FM Surapong is scheduled to hold a discussion with his Hungarian counterpart to explore ways to intensify bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, education, as well as to exchange views on the regional situations in Europe and the Asia-Pacific. He will also pay a courtesy call on Mr. Tibor Navracsics, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Justice of Hungary. Representatives from five leading institutes on scientific technology and innovation in Thailand will also accompany the DPM/FM during this visit. They will meet with representatives of prominent Hungarian research institutes, including the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, to seek ways to establish research networks and future cooperation in the fields of water management, medical technology, agricultural science, energy and nuclear technology.
Thereafter, on 5 - 7 June 2013, DPM/FM Surapong will visit Germany. He will meet with his counterpart, Mr. Guido Westerwelle, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, to follow up on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s visit to Germany in July 2012, particularly cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, green economy, education and technology. They will also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest. DPM/FM Surapong will also be a keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of the Asia Pacific Weeks in Berlin, organised by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On 7 June 2013, he will open the "Thai Business Day" event to promote Thai culture, as well as trade and investment opportunities in Thailand. The Thai delegation will also meet with representatives from important scientific and research institutes in Germany, such as the Fraunhofer and Max Planck Societies, and hold a study trip to Hamburg to strengthen cooperation in fields of logistics, food safety, green economy and renewable energy.
