On 22 November 2013, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, participated in the Round Table Discussion at Scania, a truck and bus company.  Ambassador Somchai said that in Thailand, road transport is more popular than rail transport.  Thailand has skilled labour as well as good business infrastructure and facilities and is a transport hub of ASEAN and the centre of the East-West Economic Corridor.  Moreover, Thailand is currently negotiating an FTA with the EU which is expected to be concluded next year.  Therefore, it is a good opportunity for Scania to consider expanding its investment to Thailand.

     Mr. Christian Levin, Member of Executive Board and Executive Vice President of Scania, and Mrs. Maria Jobenius, Vice President (Commercial Operations) expressed their interest in information presented by Ambassador Somchai.  Ambassador Somchai convinced them that other Swedish companies investing in Thailand such as Electrolux, IKEA, H&M, Öhlin are doing well in Thailand and he would be pleased to give Scania more information regarding Thailand’s foreign investment regulations.
