On 15 April 2014,  H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, discussed with Professor Paulo Bayard Dias Goncalves, Vice President of the Federal University of Santa Maria, State of Rio Grande do Sul, on international cooperation between the universities of Thailand and Brazil. Ambassador Charnbhumidol said that Kasetsart University (Thailand) have shown interest to have educational cooperation with the University of Santa Maria in the fields of veterinary medicine, agriculture, and livestock as well as the exchange of students, professors, and researchers between the two universities. Professor Goncalves agreed that educational cooperation was important and Santa  Maria University is planned to conclude an international agreement  on educational cooperation with Kasetsart University in the above-mentioned areas.
