During 29 – 31 May 2015, Mr. Chakri Srichawana, Director-General of the Department of Protocol, led members of Diplomatic Corps in Thailand from 22 countries and their spouses to visit the royal-initiated projects in Sakon Nakhon Province. Mrs. Nareumon Sinhaseni, spouse of Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs also joined the study trip which aimed to promote initiatives of Their Majesties The King and Queen in improving the quality of life and the well-being of Thais, as well as the province’s potentials, both in terms of tourism and local wisdoms.

During the three-day program, the diplomats and their spouses visited Bankhutnakham Arts SUPPORT Centre where local pottery making techniques were demonstrated. They later observed His Majesty's development projects on fishery, rice seed and livestock at the  Phu Phan Centre for the Development Studies of His Majesty the King's Initiated Projects. Then, the group visited Phu Phan Museum to learn about Sakon Nakhon’s history and the making of the Indigo dyed textile by locals in Pannanikom District.

The study trip is one of the Department of Protocol’s annual projects. The participants expressed their admiration for the vision of Their Majesties which had been translated into valuable development projects. They were also very impressed with local culture and wisdoms which could be shared with other communities in the world.
