On 18 January 2018, H.E. Mr. Bhakavat Tanskul, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal and the Embassy’s officials welcomed 61 newly ordained monks and delegation at the Royal Thai Monastery in Lumbini, on the occasion of a group ordination dedicated to the 60th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn on 4 July 2017. Among the newly ordained monks were H.E. Mr. Thakur Phanit, Vice President for International Affairs, Chulabhorn Research Institute and Former Ambassador, and H.E. Mr. Chalermpol Thanchitt, Vice President for International Affairs, Chulabhorn Research Institute and Former Ambassador. Leading the Thai delegates were Mrs. Sopha Phanit, Deputy Director, Office of the President, and H.E. Mr. Chalit Manityakul, Vice President for International Affairs, Chulabhorn Research Institute and Former Ambassador
In the morning of 19 January 2018, Ambassador Tanskul participated in the Dharma study session of the 61 newly ordained monks at Maya Devi Temple as well as the offering of the Royal Robe to Phra Sribodhivides, Abbot of the Royal Thai Monastery, Lumbini. Subsequently, Ambassador Tanskul hosted a forenoon meal offering to the newly ordained monks who went on alms round in front of the Ordination Hall of the Royal Thai Monastery before departing for Kushinagar, India.
The group ordination and the visit of the delegation to Lumbini depicts the well wishes and utmost loyalty from the Thai people to Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn on the occasion of the 60th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness on 4 July 2017.
