On 2nd February 2018 H.E. Mr Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates, presided over the opening ceremony of the THAI DAY and Chidren’s Day 2018 event which was jointly organized with the Thai Ladies’ Circle in Abu Dhabi.

          The objective of this event is to celebrate Thailand national children’s day which was held on Saturday 13 January 2018. Like other countries, Thailand observes National Children’s Day, celebrated on the second Saturday of January every year. Each year, the Thai Government gives each Children’s Day a slogan and this year’s  slogan  is “Clever, cautious, creative in technology”. It  is hoped to inspire the youth of today to be earnest about learning, constantly enhance their abilities, and be willing to acquire beneficial new knowledge while using information media technology constructively. 

          The event also aimed  to promote Thai food and culture among the foreign community in the UAE.   The guests were  indulged  with delicious food from various parts of Thailand as well as  entertained with  Thai cultural performances by Thai children and the Thai community as well as the art of  Muay Thai and Fruit Carving workshop as well as a booth to promote the new office of Thai Airways International in Abu Dhabi and tourism in Thailand.  

          It was a successful event which was much appreciated  by the participants with more than 900 persons turned up to participate which included members of the Diplomatic Corps, Emiratis, Thais and foreign nationals expats.
