On 14 February 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea jointly organized the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Logo Award Ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ceremony was co-hosted by Mr. Singtong Lappisatepun, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Noh Kwang-il, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand.
The Director-General and the Ambassador delivered remarks celebrating the close relationship between Thailand and the Republic of Korea as strategic partners in all areas of cooperation including trade, investment, security, education, and tourism. The 60th anniversary marks a very auspicious occasion, as both countries look forward to further deepening and strengthening cooperation.
The logo competition was co-organized by the Department of East Asian Affairs and the Embassy of Republic of Korea from 7 December 2017 until 15 January 2018, during which over 140 applications were submitted. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea are pleased to announce that Mr. Puthipat Buppa, an undergraduate student from Silapakorn University, Thailand, was chosen as the winner of the logo competition.
Mr. Buppa’s design consists of the number 60, representing the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea. The colors used (blue and red) are present in both countries’ national flags. The number “6” is shaped as an elephant’s head and trunk, symbolizing Thailand, while the number “0” is based on the Taegeukgi, or Yin and Yang symbol, which is in the centre of the Republic of Korea’s national flag, representing perfect harmony and balance, including the continuous movement within the sphere of infinity. Moreover, the design of the curve represents integrity, reconciliation and harmony.
