On 10 July 2019, Mr. Shigeyo Kimura, President of the Japan - Thailand Educational Exchange Society, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka, to report on the arrangement for the 4^th Japan - Thailand Cultural Fair in Kyoto on14 October 2019 as well as to formally invite the Consul-General to attend the said fair. Considered a special annual event in Kyoto, the fair is supported by the Japan - Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly in association with the Team Thailand organizations in Osaka.

The Japan - Thailand Educational Exchange Society is a non-profit organization establised in 1981 to assist in fostering the exchange of educational and cultural activities between Japan and Thailand, events such as the annual exchange of youth visits between the two countries and the organization of the Japan - Thailand Cultural Fair every year. On this occasion, the Consul-General presented the financial support of 115,305 yen to support the activities of the Society, as well as the organization of the 4^th Japan - Thailand Cultural Fair in Kyoto this year.
