On 14 June 2025, Ambassador Prasas Prasasvinitchai, Co-Chair of the Thailand - Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (Thai side), jointly chaired the 6th Meeting of the Thai - Cambodian Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) with H.E. Mr. Lam Chea, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Border Affairs, Co-Chair (Cambodian side) in Phnom Penh.

Both sides stressed the importance of the Thai - Cambodian Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) as the main mechanism to negotiate border issues between the two sides and work together towards peaceful solution, as stipulated in the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Survey and Demarcation of Land Boundary. In addition, the meeting will play a key role in reducing tensions and lay the ground for a sustainable solution.

Commissioners from both sides are representatives from relevant technical agencies, such as Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Royal Thai Survey Department, Royal Thai Armed Forces, State Secretariat of Border Affairs of Cambodia (Minstry level), Ministry of Defense of Cambodia, Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, including Cambodian Governors of all the Thailand - Cambodia border provinces.

Prior to the meeting, both sides had a small-group discussion, which was open and frank and they hope to have a fruitful JBC meeting. It was also the first encounter for the two Co-Chairs.
