On 10 February 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Wojciech Gerwel, Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific of the Republic of Poland.
Both sides exchanged views in preparation for the 1st Strategic Dialogue, which will be hosted by the Thai side, and reviewed the state of progress on pending bilateral agreements in defence, agriculture, tourism, extradition and the first Thai - Polish Joint Plan of Action. They also exchanged views on national, regional and global developments, including Thailand - EU relations, the situation in Myanmar, the Russia - Ukraine situation, the outcome of the general elections in Thailand and the Thailand - Cambodia border situation.
The Thai side expressed appreciation that LOT Polish Airlines will re-open direct flights between Bangkok - Warsaw on 26 October 2026. This will further enhance the number of Polish tourists travelling to Thailand, which grew by 31 percent in 2025. The Polish side expressed support for Thailand’s ongoing accession into the OECD and its readiness to share experience with Thailand on policy alignment and capacity development in line with OECD standards.
