On 28 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Eksiri Pintaruji, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (ASEAN SOM) held in Cebu, the Philippines, which marked the first ASEAN SOM of the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in 2026 under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.”

The Meeting acknowledged and discussed key priorities advanced by the Philippines during its ASEAN Chairship, including the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and the promotion of digital transformation and energy connectivity, and also prepared for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat scheduled for 29 January 2026. On this occasion, the Permanent Secretary highlighted Thailand’s contributions, particularly in enhancing ASEAN cooperation to address online scams, strengthening the role of the ASEAN Chair, and promoting ASEAN’s role in disarmament and non-proliferation efforts in international fora.
