On 21 April 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Samir Sharifov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the latter’s visit to Thailand to attend the 81st Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.

Both sides followed up on pending agreements and explored potential areas of cooperation between Thailand and Azerbaijan, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment. They also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation between the private sectors of both countries, enhancement of bilateral trade, and fostering cooperation on culture and tourism. In addition, both sides shared perspectives on the proposal to convene the first Thailand - Azerbaijan Political Consultations in Bangkok.
