Ambassador Meets South Australia’s Minister for State Development to Strengthen Economic Cooperation

On 28 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia together with and Ms. Usanee Thinkohkaew, Director of the Thailand Board of Investment, Sydney Office, met with the Hon. Chris Picton, Minister for State Development of South Australia, to follow up on the Minister’s visit to Thailand in May 2026. The visit was the first visit to Thailand by a South Australian Trade Minister in approximately 10 years, during which the Minister led a delegation of South Australian businesses to THAIFEX-ANUGA ASIA and held discussions with relevant Thai agencies and businesses to explore trade and investment opportunities.

Both sides discussed opportunities to further advance cooperation between Thailand and South Australia, particularly in food and agriculture, investment, tourism and hospitality, renewable energy, and supply chains. They also exchanged views on energy transition and electricity system management. The Ambassador invited the South Australia government and its business sector to participate in future trade and investment promotion activities in Thailand to build connections with Thai businesses and explore further opportunities, particularly in manufacturing and supply chains, in the lead-up to the 75th anniversary of Thailand-Australia diplomatic relations in 2027.
