On 23 – 26 April 2025, Mr. Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, along with a delegation of officials from the Legalization Division and the Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad Division of the Department of Consular Affairs, Bureau of Registration Administration of the Department of Provincial Administration, Royal Thai Police, and Office of the Attorney General, participated and supported a capacity-building project for “Volunteer Consuls” organized by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York.

This project aimed at sharing experience and enhancing knowledge and understanding of consular work and responsibility among Volunteer Consuls of the Consulate-General. The Volunteer Consuls form a vital network to play a key role in coordination, disseminate knowledge about consular services, and serve as a voice of the Thai community. The project also outreached to the Thai community in nearby areas to provide information and consultations on consular matters, legal issues, as well as cyber safety.

The delegation had a discussion and organized a workshop with the Consulate-General to exchange knowledge, offer guidance and solutions to practical setbacks, including to support the Consulate-General’s efforts to deliver more effective and efficient services to the public.
